iPhone 17 Launch: India Becomes Apple’s Manufacturing Hub

The iPhone 17 is finally here, and this time, India is right at the centre of Apple’s big launch. From Bengaluru to Tamil Nadu, factories run by Foxconn, Tata, and Pegatron are producing Apple’s latest smartphones, not just for India but for the world.
For the very first time, iPhones made in India are being sold across the world on the same day as launch.
iPhone 17 Models, Features and Event Highlights
Apple’s 2025 “Awe Dropping” event was packed with major announcements.
iPhone 17 Base – for everyday users.
iPhone 17 Pro – enhanced performance and upgraded camera features.
iPhone 17 Pro Max – Apple’s most powerful iPhone yet, featuring the largest-ever 5,000mAh battery.
iPhone 17 Air – the slimmest iPhone ever at under 5.5 mm, designed for portability and style, though available only in e-SIM variants.
The regular iPhone 17 finally gets the much-awaited ProMotion display, bringing 120Hz refresh rates to non-Pro users for the first time. It also packs dual 48MP cameras, a brighter 6.3-inch panel, and the new A19 chip, promising up to 30 hours of video playback.
The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max bring a fresh design with a new rear “plateau” glass panel, better cooling, and larger batteries. The Pro Max now offers up to 39 hours of video playback and an impressive 8x optical zoom for photography lovers. Apple has also added a 2TB storage option, the largest ever on an iPhone.
The biggest surprise, however, was the new iPhone Air. At just 5.6 mm thick and weighing 156 grams, it is Apple’s slimmest phone ever, made with 80% recycled titanium. Positioned between the base iPhone 17 and the Pro series, it replaces the Plus model. While sleek, it comes with trade-offs, such as eSIM-only support and a smaller battery, but its design-first appeal makes it stand out.
iPhone 17 Series Price in India and Availability
Apple has priced the iPhone 17 series higher than the previous iPhone 16 lineup, but affordability options are expected to keep demand steady.
The iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro will be the main volume drivers, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max is set to attract power users who want the best cameras and performance.
Pre-orders are already strong in India, the US, and Europe. Deliveries in India are scheduled to start from 19th September 2025, with availability both online and at Apple’s retail stores. For the first time, India-made iPhones will be available to buyers in India and abroad on the same day as global markets.
Apple Share Price and Market Reaction
Apple’s stock was slightly in the red ahead of the iPhone 17 launch, slipping 0.37% in pre-market trading to $237 on Nasdaq. Despite this dip, the stock has remained up nearly 5% in the past month. It is due to the optimism around strong iPhone demand and Apple’s growing presence in India.
Analysts believe the iPhone 17 series could lift sales volumes by 2% to around 232 million units in 2026, even with higher prices. A key factor is India, now both a supply hub and a demand story.
For traders, short-term volatility around the launch event is common. Share prices often fluctuate as markets react to pre-order numbers, early reviews, and sales guidance. But Apple’s aggressive manufacturing push in India is expected to support steady earnings growth. On the other hand, widening the product lineup should help Apple maintain momentum in both developed and emerging markets.
