How to Update PAN Card Online

You can update or correct your PAN card details through two official portals: NSDL (Protean) and UTIITSL. The online process lets you update: name, address, date of birth, mobile number, or any other corrections.

A. Update PAN Through NSDL (Protean)

Step 1: Visit the NSDL PAN Correction page.
Step 2: Select “Changes or Corrections in Existing PAN Data.
Step 3: Choose the application category.
Step 4: Enter your PAN, personal details, and contact information.
Step 5: Upload the required documents.
Step 6: Select e-KYC, e-sign, or physical submission.
Step 7: Pay the applicable fee online.
Step 8: Submit the form and download the acknowledgement slip.

B. Update PAN Through UTIITSL

Step 1: Go to the UTIITSL PAN Update page.
Step 2: Choose “PAN Card Change/Correction”.
Step 3: Enter your PAN and fill in the updated details.
Step 4: Upload supporting documents.
Step 5: Choose e-sign or send hard copies to the UTI office.

How to Update PAN Offline?

If you prefer submitting your PAN correction request in person, you can update your PAN details offline through any NSDL (Protean) or UTIITSL service centre. Follow the steps:

1. Download the PAN Correction Form (Form 49A for Indian citizens)
2. Enter only the fields that need correction.

3. Attach all the self-attested documents.
4. Paste two recent passport-size photographs in the designated boxes. Do not staple them.
5. Visit the nearest NSDL facilitation centre or UTIITSL PAN centre and submit your form along with the required documents.
6. Pay the applicable fees.
7. After submission, you will receive an acknowledgement number, which you can use to track your PAN correction status online.

PAN Card Name Change Documents

If you need to update or correct your name on your PAN card because of marriage, divorce, spelling errors, or legal changes, you must submit valid supporting documents. 

A. Name Change After Marriage

You can submit any one of the following:

• Marriage certificate
• Marriage invitation card
• Copy of passport showing spouse’s name
• Publication of the name change in the official gazette

B. After Divorce

Accepted documents include:

• Divorce decree
• Court order
• Affidavit stating the name change

C. Name Change Through Gazette Notification

You can submit:

• Gazette notification in your new name
• Supporting ID proof with the updated name

D. Spelling Correction or Minor Name Edits

You can submit:

• Passport
• Aadhaar card
• Driving licence
• Voter ID
• Any government-issued ID with the correct name

PAN Date of Birth (DOB) Correction

If the date of birth on your PAN card is incorrect, you must provide valid proof of your correct DOB. Submit any one of the following:

• Birth certificate 
• Matriculation certificate or mark sheet with DOB
• Passport
• Aadhaar card
• Driving licence
• Voter ID card (if it displays DOB clearly)
• Government-issued photo ID with full date of birth
• Pension payment order
• Central/State Government service record
• Domicile certificate issued by a government authority

• The document must display your full date of birth (DD/MM/YYYY).
• If DOB is missing or partially shown, the application may go on hold for re-verification.
• The name on your document must match or closely align with the name on your PAN application.

PAN Address Update

If your Aadhaar address is not updated, you can submit any valid address proof, such as:
