You get money in two parts if you’re having a baby.

1. For Your First Baby

First Instalment:

• You register your pregnancy and have at least one Antenatal checkup within six months from the last menstrual period date.
• You can do this checkup at the Anganwadi Centre or approved Health facilities identified by the respective administering State/UT.
• Amount: Rs. 3,000/-

Second Instalment:

• You register the childbirth.
• Your child receives all due vaccines till the age of 14 weeks as admissible under the Universal Immunization Programme of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
• Amount: Rs. 2,000/-

For the Second Child (if it is a girl child)

Single Instalment:

There are certain conditions that you must fulfil:

You register your pregnancy and have at least one Ante-Natal Check-up (ANC) within six months.

You must get this checkup from LMP at the Anganwadi Centre (AWC) or approved Health facilities identified by the respective administering State/UT.

In the case of Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana registration of the birth of a girl child, she receives all due vaccines till she attains the age of fourteen weeks from the date of birth as admissible under the Universal Immunization Programme of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Amount: Rs. 6,000/-

In case of miscarriage/stillbirth, you would be treated as a fresh beneficiary in the event of any future pregnancy.

Ensuring Timely Payments to Beneficiaries

To ensure prompt payment, all eligible beneficiaries who have applied and meet the required conditions will receive their funds via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). 

This means

i. Benefits only through DBT to Bank or Post Office accounts.

ii. No payments through cash or by cheque.

iii. Money transfer facilitation through banks and post offices integrated with PFMS (Public Financial Management System).

Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana Eligibility Criteria

The PMMVY involves certain conditions for receiving benefits:

• Pregnant women aged at least 19 are eligible to apply.
• Applicants experiencing wage loss due to pregnancy and currently employed are eligible.
• Eligible beneficiaries must apply for PMMVY benefits within 270 days of childbirth.
• In the case of a second pregnancy resulting in twins, triplets, or quadruplets with at least one girl child, the beneficiary will receive incentives for the second girl child as per PMMVY 2.0 norms.

Criteria for Socially and Economically Disadvantaged Sections

Socially and economically disadvantaged groups include:

• Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes: Women belonging to these categories.
• Disability: Partially (40%) or fully disabled women (Divyang Jan).
• BPL Ration Card Holders: Women holding Below Poverty Line (BPL) Ration Cards.
• Healthcare Beneficiaries: Women beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (PMJAY) or Ayushman Bharat.
• Other Cards: Women holding e-Shram card, MGNREGA Job Card, or Ration Card under NFSA Act 2013.
• Income Criteria: Women with a net family income less than Rs. 8 Lakh per annum.

Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana | Exclusions

• A husband’s Aadhaar is not mandatory for scheme benefits.
• Pregnant women and lactating mothers employed with the Central Government, State Government, or Public Sector Undertakings do not qualify for PMMVY eligibility.
• Also, those receiving similar benefits under existing laws are not eligible for PMMVY benefits.

How to Apply Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana Scheme

• You must visit the official Ministry website and click on the Citizen login tab.
• Next, you need to enter your mobile number and verify it.
• Next, you need to provide details like Full Name, State, District, Area, Block, Village, and relationship with the beneficiary. Click the Create Account button.

• Next, click on the Login tab and enter your User ID, Password, and Captcha code.

Key Points for Applying to the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana Scheme

a) Beneficiaries must enrol for Aadhaar either independently or with assistance from the implementing department to qualify for the third instalment.

Aadhaar numbers for both the beneficiary and her husband are mandatory.

If an Alternate ID proof is provided, Aadhaar enrollment is compulsory within 90 days of scheme registration.

b) Residents of Assam, Meghalaya, and Jammu & Kashmir are exempted from Aadhaar submission requirements according to the Aadhaar Act, 2016.

c) The Last Menstrual Period (LMP) date mentioned in the MCP card forms the basis of caluclating the pregnancy period.

d) Every registered PMMVY beneficiary will receive a Mother and Child Protection (MCP) Card from the local Anganwadi Centre/ ASHA / ANM, which serves as verification for payment conditions.
