Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana 2.0 introduced an additional 1.6 Crore LPG connections, focusing on migrant households. As of July 1st, 103,290,884 connections have been released under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, whereas under Ujjwala Yojana 2.0, the number is 23,434,255.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), the Government of India provides cash assistance to help families get LPG connections.
For a 14.2 kg cylinder, you get Rs. 1600, and for a 5 kg cylinder, it’s Rs. 1150.
This cash assistance covers:
- Security Deposit of Cylinder – Rs. 1250 for 14.2 kg cylinder / Rs. 800 for 5 kg cylinder
- Rs. 150 for the Pressure Regulator
- Rs. 100 for LPG Hose
- Rs. 25 for Domestic Gas Consumer Card
- Rs. 75 for Inspection / Installation / Demonstration charges
In addition, all PMUY beneficiaries receive their first LPG refill and a free stove (hotplate) with their connection.

Ujjwala Scheme Eligibility Criteria (PMUY)
If a woman from an underprivileged household doesn’t have an LPG connection at home, she can apply for UJJWALA 2.0.
To be eligible, she must fall into one of these categories
- She must be 18 years of age.
- Listed in the SECC 2011 list
- Belongs to SC/ST households
- She must be a beneficiary of schemes like PMAY- Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Antyodaya Anna Yojana- AAY.
- She belongs to Forest dwellers, Most Backward Classes (MBC), and Tea and Ex-Tea Garden Tribes.
- People residing in river islands (must submit supporting documents)
If she doesn’t fit into these categories, she can still apply.
She must submit a 14-point declaration form confirming her status as a member of an underprivileged household.
However, there should not be any other LPG connections in the same household.
Please note- Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana does not apply to males!

How to Apply for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) 2.0 Online
- Visit the official website of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana 2.0.
- From the top menu, click on the third tab labelled “Apply for the New Ujjwala 2.0 Connection.”
- A new screen will appear. Click on “Click Here to apply for New Ujjwala 2.0 Connection.”
- Select your LPG distribution company (Indane, Bharatgas, or HP Gas) and click on “Register Now.”
- Choose “Ujjwala 2.0 New Connection.”
- Fill in all required details such as your State, District, Pin Code, Distributor’s Name, Mobile Number, Captcha, and OTP.
- Select the KYC Type: “New KYC” or “Normal KYC.”
- Specify your migrant family status (YES or NO).
- Depending on your choice:
- If NO, fill in Annexure 1.
- If YES, provide Ration Card details.
- Provide all necessary family details, personal information, address details, and bank information. Choose the type of cylinder and specify if you reside in a rural or urban area.
- Accept the declaration and submit your application.
- Print your application form containing the generated reference number.
- Attach all submitted documents and visit your selected gas agency.

- Download the KYC form from the official PMUY website or obtain it from your nearest LPG distributor.
- The forms include:
- Fill out your application form with necessary details such as personal information, bank account details, and preferred LPG distributor.
- Next, attach all essential documents. This includes your POI- proof of identity, POA- proof of address, and proof of Below Poverty Line (BPL) category.
- Once done, submit the completed form to your nearest LPG distributor.
Documents Required for Ujjwala Yojana 2.0
To apply for the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) 2.0, you will need the following documents:
- Know Your Customer (KYC)
- Ration Card issued by the State from where you’re applying, or any other State Govt. document showing family details or Self-Declaration as per Annexure I (for migrants).
- The Aadhaar of the beneficiary and adult family members listed in the document at Sl. 2.
- Proof of Address:
- If the connection address is the same, Aadhaar can serve as both proof of identity and proof of address.
- Your Bank Account Number and IFSC Code.
