Quant Mutual Fund has been in the news for quite some time now. Be it the SEBI crackdown on the fund house or touching all-new highs amidst this crisis. Quant Mutual Fund AUM touched a new high of around ₹ 94000 crore in the mid of July. In July, the fund house made some significant changes in its portfolio one of the most crucial increasing its stake in ITC by a whopping ₹ 3669 crore. In this article, you will read all the details pertaining to different Quant MF schemes, which added more of ITC shares, and other asset allocations that the fund houses did in July. 

Ramping up ITC Stakes

In July, out of the total ITC equity stocks worth ₹ 3669 crore added to the portfolio of the fund house, Quant flexi Cap share the major portion. ITC stocks worth ₹ 666 crores were added to this scheme last month. The other two schemes that added a significant amount of the ITC stakes include the Quant Tax Saver scheme, which added ₹ 440 crore shares of ITC, while the Large and Midcap fund of Quant MF added shares worth ₹ 299 crore of ITC. The quantamental Fund Regular plan also added a whopping amount of stakes worth ₹ 261 crores while ₹ 221 crore stakes of ITC were added to the quant Active Fund. 

Dropping HDFC Shares

While Quant MF added a significant amount of ITC shares in July, it also dropped HDFC Bank 2.95 crore shares worth ₹ 4763 crore. Post this sell-off, Quant MF had ₹ 2800 crore of stakes in HDFC Bank at July end, down from ₹ 7871 crore of HDFC Bank shares in June. Quant Small Cap Fund offloaded the highest number of shares of HDFC Bank worth ₹ 1602 crore. This scheme sold the entire HDFC Bank stakes, Quant mid-cap fund followed this and sold HDFC shares worth ₹ 779 crores. Quant large & mid cap fund offloaded ₹ 322 crore shares of HDFC bank. 

Total holding of MFs in ITC and HDFC Bank

After the recent reshuffling in July 39 mutual fund houses hold ITC shares worth ₹ 61862 crores and HDFC Bank shares worth ₹ 2.54 lakh crores. A total number of shares of ITC lying with MFs includes 125 crore of shares, while that of HDFC Bank is 158 crore shares. 

Quant Mutual Fund Overall Holdings in July

As per July data, the mutual fund households have stakes in 184 companies whose value stands at ₹ 78920 crore, however, there has been a decrease from holding stakes in its 284 companies in June. In July, the MF also sold stocks of 122 companies and made a profit of ₹ 9490 crore, while investing in 22 new companies. 

Other three companies from which Quant MF offloaded significant value of shares include 

  • HUDCO – ₹ 1449 crore shares
  • Tata Consultancy Services – ₹ 1376 crore shares
  • Kotak Mahindra Bank – ₹ 1377 crore shares

Other companies from which Quant MF entirely withdrew its stake include – 

  • Shipping Corporation of India – ₹ 893 crore
  • Escort Kubota – ₹ 607 crore
  • NHPC – ₹ 538 crore
  • HEG – ₹ 445 crore
  • Railtel Corp – ₹ 400 crore
  • Graphite India – ₹ 334 crore

New additions to Quant MF Portfolio 

A total of 22 companies were added to the portfolio and the amount invested was ₹2950 crore. Top buys include – 

  • Piramal Enterprises – ₹ 477 crore
  • MRF Tyres – ₹411 crore
  • Llyods Metals & Energy – ₹ 380 crore
  • Bayer CropScience – ₹ 310 crore
  • Bata India – ₹ 236 crore
  • NBCC India – ₹ 215 crore
  • Manappuram Finance – ₹ 132 crore
  • Indian Oil Corp – ₹ 100 crore
  • BASF India – ₹ 93 crore
  • Yes Bank – ₹ 57 crore

So, if you are invested in any Quant mutual fund scheme then check whether it has reallocated assets to these stocks or kept it same. It is the reshuffling that the fund house does from time to time to reap the optimum returns and you, as an investor also need to keep an eye on the same to keep track of your investments.
