U. N. Mehta, the founder of Torrent Pharma, started with Trinity Laboratories in 1959. In 1971, it changed its name to Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
1959 marked the beginning of a journey in healthcare that aimed not just at treating ailments but caring for lives in every way possible.
Their beginnings were quite small. Little did they know they would be serving 50 nations one day!

Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd. – the 6th Largest Company in the Indian Pharmaceutical Market (IPM).
1980 was the kickstart year for their popularity beyond Indian borders. Torrent Pharmaceuticals received its first export order to the USSR.
In 1983, Torrent Pharma commenced operations in Ahmedabad with its inaugural manufacturing facility.
Multiple milestones marked each year’s success of the company.

1984 came as a significant milestone. Torrent Ltd was honoured with the Chemexcil Export Award and the prestigious Udyog Ratna Award.
The laboratory’s outstanding performance earned it the IMC Golden Jubilee Endowment Award in 1985.
Continuing its streak, Torrent Laboratories received awards from the Chemexcil Export Award and the IDMA Quality Excellence Award.

In 1987, Torrent Laboratories and Torrent Exports won another Chemexcil Export Award.

In 1990, Torrent Exports earned another award.

The establishment of their R&D Centre positioned Torrent Pharmaceuticals as a leader in pharmaceutical research and development.
But that’s not the end of it…
Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd. underwent a major restructuring.
It formed three new divisions—Prima, Vista, and Psycan—and patented its first New Chemical Entity in 1999.
And that’s when the company’s efforts were recognised once again…
In 2001, Torrent Pharma was ranked among the top 10 Indian Companies for Return on Capital Employed.
Here’s where things start to get really exciting…
In 2002, the company made a groundbreaking discovery with the AGE (Advanced Glycosylation End-products) molecule.
This was indeed a reason to celebrate!
By 2003, Torrent Pharma Inc. was established in the USA!
In 2004, its Indrad Plant received approvals from MHRA (UK) and TGA (Australia). They were right on their path to global growth!
In 2005, the company expanded its operations with a new manufacturing unit in Baddi.
By 2007, Torrent Pharma’s Indrad Plant achieved ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001:2004, and OHSAS 18001:1999 certifications.
They were setting quality benchmarks one by one!
Torrent Pharma expanded with the Sikkim Plant and launched the Sparsh division for Dermatology in 2011.

Torrent Pharma’s Indrad Plant received the Sword of Honor for Occupational Health & Safety from the British Safety Council in 2012!

Torrent Pharma partnered with Reliance Life Sciences for three biosimilars in 2013.
